The Art & Science of
Adaptive Yoga

A Masterclass for Yoga Teachers.

Level up your yoga teaching to include every body

Are you a yoga teacher passionate about helping your students feel empowered in their practice, no matter their body type? Do you tell students to honour their own bodies, but lack the knowledge to tailor asana for the individual in front of you? Join us for a transformative masterclass designed to help you become a more confident and adaptive yoga teacher.

Danielle Bendall, of Santosha Yoga Australia, will help you uncover your teaching blind spots, learn the factors that influence range of movement, and examine how our language and demonstrations might be leaving some students out.

In this 3-hour masterclass we will cover:

Program Outline

Part One - The Science: Influences on range of movement

  • You already know that every body is different, but in this masterclass we will unpack why people have such different ranges of movement.

Part Two - Asana Lab: Exploring your unique range of movement

  • Compare your own range of movement with others, and uncover why the pose you love is the same one that someone else hates.

  • More importantly, learn when to offer encouragement and when to offer alternatives. You will gain knowledge of how to modify poses based on the individual, rather than generic alternatives.

Part Three - The Art: Language and demonstrations

  • Examine some of the outdated cues, alignment myths and incorrect assumptions that are still being taught and used in yoga.

  • Explore language that empowers students to practice uniquely and safely for their own bodies.

Part Four: Asana practice

  • Experience a full asana practice designed to be truly adaptive and that genuinely includes every body. Feel firsthand what a difference that thoughtful modifications can make for your students.

Part Five: Q&A

  • Maximise the opportunity to ask questions about the content among your peers. Find out how to incorporate the principles covered into your teaching.
